DELHI DARBAR [DD]

नमस्ते Everyone!!
One fine Sunday I decided to go to DD , for dining. SOBO has four DD we chose the Colaba DD. I think its the finest among them.
Two minutes from there is  "bade miyaan"... I feel its loosing its charm with cats lingering underneath the tables which are placed on the footpath and thats not all , it takes atleast ten minutes wait  to  get to sit on those awful benches!
A wise decision we took was to go to DD. The ambience inside the restaurent is as cheerful as it is outside. There were a few foreigners. It was amusing to see them read and scan the whole menu as if it was a treaty which they were to sign! One of them went to an Indian family requesting them for sugggestions for a decent meal! What else can one expect when there are words like 'Murgh Nargis' 'Rogan Josht' in the menu. At a Mughlai restaurent they were surviving with mere  masala papads! or should I call it 'thin crust hot n spicy pizza' !! Well having enjoyed the plight of those foreigners, it was time to enjoy our carefully chosen meal!
I had called for a 'Chicken Barra' , and 'Murgh Nargis' with roomali roti....hmmmm the taste is still dong the rounds of my palate!! Quite well prepared. The roomali roti was just melting in my mouth! Being at this place makes my quest stronger. All in all it was a funfilled yummylicious experience!!!

CHINESE GRILL, BHENDI BAZAAR MUMBAI

Hello everyone!
This place was brought to my notice by a colleague.
Situated in the crowded Bhendi Bazaar gali, is decent at first look .
I tasted "Nalli Nihari Mutton" (had heard a lot about it but never had it, so one of my food thirsts got satisfied;)).Hmm the marrow is cooked till it softens! It surely is very nutritious too!
There was another speciality of this place-"Chicken Rogan ghosht" , i loved it, very well cooked.
Chicken Afghani was the starter we had , well spiced and served with a white chutney, but should have been cooked more....
What i didnt like was the extra layer of oil over the two curries and naan, but as my mother says:' liberious tail nahi to sabzi mein mazaa nahi aata'
Quantity is quite more than normal.

In an all I 'l surely cherish this place ever!

GYPSY VEG. DADAR

Namaste everyone,
Here's bringing you all a brilliant vegetable restaure! Situted in the heart of Mumbai - Dadar, it truly brings in the Jai Maharashtra feeling in one. The maharashtrian veg food with a diverse menu can easily make a new comer acquainted with the Maharashtrian delicacies. In fact we ought to have many of these GYPSY just like the Udipi chain of hotels. Starting from regular breakfast starters to main course dishes are all worth trying. I went out there with little apprehension to start with until I read the mouth watering menu after which i was sure to have a cherishable meal out there. We delivered our taste buds almost all the breakfast, right from pohe , bhajiricha thalipith, alu wadi, kothimbir wadi, mutter cutlet and with baiganachi bhazi, methi chi bhaji, tandalachi chapati to sevaiya!!! Very authentically cooked signature Maharashtra dishes they were! Service was cordial. priced moderately with each dish not costing more than Rupees 100. Would like say again as written in my previous blogs, that me, being a pakka non veg eater it is rare for me to call some veg rastaurent good. And this ones really good!

RIGHT PLACE,near Breach Candy Hospital

हेल्लो Everyone!!
This is a day night eatout. Specially comes to your mind when you want to go somewhere at midnight, at SOBO . My friend Mehul was tired studying whole day, when he asked us if we would join him for a midnight bite. We zeroed upon Right Place , Its also a regular habitat for Sophia collegegoers. Apt to its name-right place is right to go at night for a scrumptious icecream, melba, or even mouthwatering sandwiches!! We can park our cars and eat out there. There is another very interesting and attractive place next to it. Its for Donuts! all kinda donuts are available and they are so very yummy man....! How I want to barge in there again, ever since...!! They just melt in your mouth, I am sure it must be mouthwatering even to read this. Nehal , my friend introduced me to this lovely place! Then we also went to the very famous Mucchad paanwala!! Did I have one of those paans? Well no........ with my TASTE BUDS still appreciating the donuts How could I have the paan over it!
Check it out guys....

MAINLAND CHINA:)

This place was on cards since long, had i known about its outlet at SOBO CentralMall then i would have been there much earlier.....
Happened to see it when I went to the mall recently, was in a hurry to get back to the hostel but promised myself to come back soon, to visit this lickolicious restaurent!!
Sonuda and Rahul bhaiyya 's visit to Mumbai marked my visit there.
It was Sonuda's BDay too!
Entered there- was dark wood flooring and dark upholstery , sitting style: centre area for family, corners for joint families and for couples, part of customers could have the live tandoor view while dining. In an all the ambience was good ,cosy, moderately grand, with focus lights on table.
We took a table in the centre, or rather got one, though hoped to be placed near the tandoor. Our rounded table was filled up with  plates ,spoons, knives, chopsticks were optional, their sauces -soya,tabasco,chilli water, napkin, the cutlery shone wih the focus lights.
We browsed the menu, and then my mouth watering began :0
I dotted for the duck in a chinese sauce. This is the first ever time I had a duck!! I would like to have tandoor duck too.And it was a yummy mix of fish's softness and chicken's roughness on my palate. I'm sure the reader's mouth is also watering now!!!!
Next I had Chicken panfried noodles! This was good too, against an expectation of the label of "bland chinese food" everything was well spiced. Price is high which was expected .
For the special BDay celebration , three men, with a guitar, came up to us with the birthday cake and icecream!
Would like to go there again!!
Three thumbs up!!!

My Sunday Feast!!!

It was at my newly wed bro's place...
I went  to his place for testing my new bhabhi's cooking skills! Sunday noon, Bhabhi had time to cook at leisure, from a konkan background she is, she served us pomfret fry, prawns fry, sauted prawns, curry of potato and konkan raw mango with rice! To add to the whole coastal food experience my bro made us a drink of  tulsi+kokum+water!! Apt for a sunday lunch!! loved her warmth, binged on food!! Prawns fry were the best!! so yummylicious!! Fish fry was pungent...should have been cooked more and crispy, while the curry was perfect with the rice!! All of us i.e bro,Sushbi ( Sushanti Bhabhi) ,sister Suvarna and me sat together for this luncheon with the comedy part of a film being screened on television. Loved it!!!!

नमस्ते Everyone!
Its been four weeks since my last blog, and believe me I have been to loads of new eatouts! Grapewine at Peninsula Lower Parel, Copper Chimney at Fort, Yoko Sizzlers at Fort, Nanumal Bhojraj Tardeo... wanted to write about each one...but before i could pen them down the list of my visit to new joints went on rising. Each one was special in terms of food, the company, the reason to dine out. This is the very reason I cherish them and lock them here in these blogs of mine. Ok let me see whats the  first thing I can recollect about each of these places- Grapewine: Yummylicious veg starters- Nehal Mehul's favourite place, Copper Chimney: Cozy sofa sitting with adjacent discotheque, was dancing half the tym while eating!, Yoko Sizzlers:  Huge list of sizzlers, I wanna try all!! Nanumal Bhojraj: Veg khana ho to yaha khao.

Cordial thanks to Aks ;)

SWATI SNACKS, TARDEO

My Veggie Delight!
Here's introducing you all another lip smacking restaurent of SOBO!
The entrance has a wall dedicated to the several awards that they have received for putting up this fabulous place. The menu is different, in the sense that they offer gujrati specialities mentioned in original names unless one reads the footer, its difficult to interpret, theregular sabji, roti, thali is absent. Limited menu which is authentic, the usual sweet taste conspicuous by its absence, served with required appropriate add-ons makes it all special! The best part is that they have managed to keep the taste up to date. One cannot complain but just allow it to get down the buds smoothly!!Be it the Khicchu or the elegant panki, the tastes are all so appropriate.
Me being an avid non veg eater do not easily enter a "veg only rest", but at this place I wont mind being a vegetarian forever!!
THUMBS 4/5!!

The Punjab Grill by Jiggs Kalra..!

हेल्लो THERE ,
Located at phoenix mills is this lovely and grand restaurent. Heard about it several times from friends and in good terms, so i too wished to go. :) As much as i heard about it, it was not all that deserving for appreciation. But definitely one of the good restaurents in Mumbai.
The start with tissue popups was a pleasant way to greet, the a-la-carte menu looked mouth watering too! I did'nt care about the price that day, the order we zeroed was tandoori duck, chicken and almond soup, and a fish curry, the name of which i fail to recollect. Was melting in our mouths, i mean it was quite well cooked. Then to end our meal there were these awesome paanshots  at first look i thought, it was herbal chaas!
Uh the downs i would say- service,  intertable spacing should have been more appropriately planned, I happened to meet or rather bump into my junior, who were on the next table for their valentine celebration, therefore the intertable spacing. Though Ankita my sister did not seem to mind this considering the fact that she could peep into other's tables to chose her order for next visit ;).
I give punjab grill - thumbs three on five.
Would like to go there again!

THE CHICKEN DHANSAK

हेल्लो EVERYONE,
I RECENTLY SAW ON TV, ACTOR BOMAN IRANI TALK OF THIS IRANI DISH , HOW FONDLY HE WAS EATING IT FROM HIS DABBA AT WORK.
AS A MATTER OF CHANCE I HAPPENED TO GO TO BANDRA  AFTER A GOOD LONG THREE YEARS I GUESS, IT WAS FIVE P.M AND MY LUNCH AND BREAKFAST WAS PENDING,SO I STEPPED INTO THIS BAKERY SHOP "CHERON'S" ON HILL ROAD. THEY OFFER CHICKEN AND MUTTON DHANSAK, BEING MY FIRST TRY, I TOOK A  CHICKEN DHANSAK PARCEL.
WHEN HOT IT TASTES GOOD. GINGER SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR COMPONENT OF IT. IT IS A TYPE OF CHICKEN GRAVY SERVED WITH THICK BROWN RICE. MUST SAY THE CUCUMBER-ONION SALAD THAT I GOT IN THE PARCEL WENT VERY WELL WITH THE DISH. A DIFFERENT CHICKEN CURRY FOR A CHANGE. PRICED DECENTLY AT RUPPEES 110/-
